Side Hustle Tier List

Side hustles are Rewind 99’s identity. The Store Manager will happily sell you a mechanical bull, a fight club, a claw machine, and a person of questionable candy ethics — after the matching VIP becomes a member at 100% loyalty. Remix live: Sloshy Bar, Pizza Delivery, Rodeo, and Arcade are temporarily disabled until rebuilt. Rank below is still the buy order when the listing is back; on live Remix, skip those four and take Claw, Candy, Repo, Mixing, Fight Club. Legacy still has the June set.

This ranking is for clerks who have a working rewind loop and a payday buffer. If you are still on the first truck, stop and read the beginner guide. The mid-article video is a day-in-the-life of unlocking the first few gigs.

S — Buy these when they appear

Self-checkouts (upgrade, not a hustle) sit here anyway because they beat half the toys. Around the mid-level unlock (players often name level 10) they turn the front desk into a lane. Pair with extra rewind capacity. Details in employees and store layout.

Claw Machine — early, on-floor, prints spare change, feeds the collectibles hunt, and gives customers a reason to walk back in. Full loop: Claw Machine guide. Upgrade it if you care about the 99-item room. Do not refill it with wage money.

Illicit Candy Dealer — sugar-rushed shoppers overbuy. Place him where the queue already is, not in the door. Messy, effective, on-brand.

A — Strong once the shop is stable

Repo Man — time back more than cash. He walks the late-tape compass so you can stay on rewind. You still want the bat for RentNet kiosks; he does not replace vandalism.

Arcade machines — passive, slow to level, good furniture. One creator saw an “arcade to level 8” wall and had no idea what it meant. It means you parked the hustle and forgot to play the meta. Nudge it; do not expect a slot machine. Town vs cabinets: arcade guide.

Movie Mixing — the fantasy win against streaming. Splice tapes, invent covers, stock originals RentNet cannot have. Needs spare cassettes and a bay staff will not misfile. After 0.9.32 the Store Manager refreshes when you author a mixed title. High ceiling, medium setup. Full walkthrough: movie mixing.

B — Fun, gated, or expensive

Sloshy Bar — VIP gated, vibe machine, extra traffic if you have the right regulars. Keep it off the rewind highway or drunk pathing will become a support thread.

Pizza Delivery — town toy. Full route: pizza delivery. A pizza gun is a sentence this wiki did not expect to type. Good for co-op runners, worse if you are solo at Friday rush.

Ice Cream Bar (when in your build) — foot-traffic bait near the door. Treat as marketing, not a second register.

C — Late, loud, or a trap

Fight Club — basement plus hustle level plus a VIP. Creators have bought the basement first and stared at a locked placement. Funny content, terrible first purchase. Train a fighter only after self-checkout exists. Order of operations: Fight Club.

Mechanical Bull / Rodeo — bets and bruises. Entertainment budget. If the frame rate is already crying, do not add a physics toy. System requirements are not a dare.

Scratchers — not a hustle you place, but they live in the same dopamine tray. Never S. Never payday. Named tickets and the Scratch That toast: scratcher tickets.

How to unlock, not just rank

Open the customer tab. Each hustle has a column of affiliated shoppers. Push loyalty — stock their genre, use a discount bay to finish 100%, convert to member, then buy the hardware. How to make money is the conversion loop. How to beat RentNet keeps those shoppers from wandering to a kiosk instead.

Placement messages after 0.9.32 tell you when a grid is reserved. Believe the popup. Remix required new saves and temporarily parked co-op on Legacy; hustle flags on a dead save will not follow you. Read the Remix update before you grind a member you are about to orphan.

Rank is not morality. Candy is S because it prints. Fight Club is C because it is a second game in the basement. Play the C tier when the analog shop is already boring in a good way.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock side hustles in Rewind 99?

Convert the matching VIP to a member at 100% loyalty, then buy the hardware from the Store Manager. Discount shelves can rush the bar.

What should I unlock first?

Whatever member you get first that is Claw or Candy. Do not save for Fight Club while the rewind bin overflows.

Why is Fight Club so low?

It wants basement space and hustle level on top of a VIP. Great show, bad first spend. Self-checkout prints more.

Is the claw machine only for collectibles?

No. It also makes change and loyalty. Collectibles are the bonus. See the collectibles guide.
