Demo Disc First Shift

Rewind 99: Demo Disc is the free Steam demo (app 4349450) that carried Next Fest and a lot of first-shift muscle memory. Official news billed a 60% longer runtime plus rewind, lobby, and UI fixes before February 2026 Next Fest. F5 stopped being a debug toggle and became quicksave here. This page is what the demo teaches, where it stops, and how it differs from the 27 August 2026 Remix 1.0 shop. It is not a pirate of the full game. Buy the parent app if you want hustles, Pier 67, and a save that lasts past Wednesday.

What the demo is for

The trial copy walks the scripted first shift: Store Manager order, four starter shelves, mixed Animation / Comedy / Action / Sci-Fi boxes off the truck behind the shop, rewind left-bin choreography, a wooden bat, three RentNet kiosks. That loop is the whole beginner guide. If the truck explodes, you still open. If you cannot find the alley, you fail the demo the same way you fail day one.

Controls you should leave with: WASD, mouse look, Q/E rotate, drag-and-drop tapes, interact, F5. Details live on controls. The demo patched remote-client nonsense (mirror, rewind, cosmetics vendor breaking the lobby after one use) so a friend can try co-op on the trial — the full Remix branch currently has co-op off for performance. Do not judge 1.0 multiplayer by a February demo, and do not judge the demo by a Legacy June save.

Where it stops

The evaluation window is the point. Official trial copy talks like a probationary hire that ends mid-week. You will see Store Manager tabs for hustles you cannot keep: Candy, Claw, Fight Club, pizza, mixing. That is advertising. Convert a VIP in the full game via memberships. Do not uninstall angry because the demo hid the basement.

Collectibles, Pier 67 Tickets, video game rentals, and 38 Steam achievements are parent-app content. Friends Don’t Let Friends Stream needs the paid build (and currently Legacy). Remix new saves do not apply to a demo file you were going to throw away anyway.

Demo versus Remix 1.0

  • Price — Demo Disc is free. Remix list is $11.99; intro offer is $8.39 through 10 September 2026.
  • Timer — the trial has a probation window. The paid clerk life does not.
  • Rewind / kiosks — same tutorial loop; the full town is larger.
  • Staff AI — older in the demo; rebuilt on Remix.
  • Co-op — demo-era lobby exists; live Remix has co-op off, use Legacy.
  • Hustles / pier / consoles — teased in the trial, unlocked in the paid shop.
  • Saves — disposable in the demo; Remix required a new file after 27 August.

If the demo felt hitchy in a full shop, that complaint is why Remix exists. Read system requirements before you promise four friends a night. Steam Deck remains unsupported on the store card.

The mid-article video is a long store-opening session from the paid era so you can compare vibe, not timer. Watch the truck and the left bin, then come back to this table.

Wishlist and buy on the links Steam URL. Launch the demo from the same page’s Demo Disc button. After you clock out of the trial, the beginner page is the same checklist with nowhere for the game to pull the plug at Wednesday. If you only have one hour, spend it on rewind and the bat, not on decorating the windows. The paid shop will still be there after Wednesday; the trial will not. Steam Deck stays unsupported on the store card either way. Bring F5.
