Rewind 99 Movie Mixing Guide

RentNet cannot stream a cassette you invented in the back room. That is the whole joke, and the whole job.

Movie Mixing

Movie Mixing is Rewind 99’s answer to streaming: take two tapes you already stock, splice a new title, print a cover RentNet does not have, and put your original on a shelf. The Store Manager sells the mixing desk after the matching VIP becomes a member — same rule as every other hustle. Read VIP memberships if the button is still grey. Do not buy this before the rewind loop is boring in a good way; mixing eats cassettes the floor still needs.

The Steam achievement Mix Up the Mix fires on the first successful mix. That is a tutorial pop, not a business. The business is a bay of originals that keep VIPs in the building because the streaming kiosk cannot clone them.

What you actually do at the desk

You need spare tapes. Returns you would otherwise restock, extras from the truck, copies you can afford to kill. The desk consumes them. Then you author a Mixed Movie: title, cover, the parody energy the shop already runs on (The Codfather lives on the wall; you are adding cousins). After patch 0.9.32, the Store Manager refreshes its item list when a Mixed Movie is authored, and employees stopped dumping Mixed Movies onto the wrong genre as a coded bug. Remix later rebuilt staff brains. You still walk the wall. A mixed sci-fi in Comedy is a loyalty leak.

Treat Mixed Movies like a sixth genre that happens to share plastic with the other five. Give them a labeled bay. Keep that bay off the employee highway until you trust Remix stockers. The store layout page is the diagram: mixing desk in the back, originals up front where the VIP can see the cover, not in the truck alley.

Why it scores A, not S

The tier list parks Mixing in A. Ceiling is high: unique SKUs, loyalty, a story the shop tells about beating RentNet without a bat. Setup is medium: VIP gate, spare tapes, shelf discipline, and a desk that is another station you can get knocked off of. S-tier is Claw and Candy because they print while you rewind. Mixing prints identity. Identity does not pay wages on Friday if the bin is full.

Pair it with how to make money. Originals are a membership closer more than a jackpot. If a VIP is stuck at 80%, a cover they cannot get from a kiosk is a better nudge than a sixth discount. How to beat RentNet is still the outdoor half; mixing does not smash boxes.

Inventory discipline

Store Manager filters got a mid-EA pass specifically because heavy mixing bloated the catalog. Use the filters. Know rental prices on the terminal instead of guessing at checkout. Number keys at checkout (0.9.32) help when a mixed title rings as a credit-card sale you have never seen before.

Do not mix your last Animation copies. Genre walls still spawn customers. Mixing is surplus art. If the truck exploded on day one (it can), you do not have surplus. Watch the mid-article first-shift video for the analog loop, then come back to the desk when extras exist.

Remix (late August 2026) required new save files. Mixed titles on a Legacy world stay on Legacy. Co-op is off the live branch until the studio restores it; a lobby of four authors at one desk is a future problem. Until then, one clerk authors, one clerk shelves, and F5 before you experiment. Co-op / Remix.

After the first original

Stock the cover face-out. Tell the floor not to hide it behind Illegally Blonde. If you have video game rentals, keep cartridges off the mixed bay — loyalty tools stack, they do not share a bin. Completionists chasing achievements only need one mix for Mix Up the Mix; the rest is shop identity.

When the analog lights stay on, Mixing is the funniest A-tier in the building. When they do not, it is a pile of dead plastic next to a screaming rewind button. Earn the desk.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock movie mixing in Rewind 99?

Convert the matching VIP to a member at 100% loyalty, then buy the mixing desk from the Store Manager. See VIP memberships.

Why do Mixed Movies land on the wrong shelf?

Employees used to misfile them as a bug; 0.9.32 addressed that. Still give originals their own bay and walk the wall after a rush.

Does mixing replace tape rentals?

No. It spends spare tapes to make unique SKUs. Keep four genres in stock or loyalty dies.

Will Remix keep my mixed titles?

No. Remix needed new saves. Author them again on the new file. Details on the Remix update.
