Rewind 99 VIP Memberships Guide
A regular at 99% loyalty is still a tourist. 100% is the membership that sells you a hustle.
Side hustles in Rewind 99 are not a catalog you buy on day one. Each gig is tied to a VIP customer. Push that person to 100% loyalty, convert them into a member, then the Store Manager will sell the matching hardware — Claw Machine, Illicit Candy Dealer, Repo Man, Fight Club, pizza gun, arcade, mixing desk, bull. This page is the conversion loop. Rank the toys later on the side hustle tier list. If the first truck is still in the alley, finish the beginner guide first; a membership grind on empty shelves is how clerks go broke.
How loyalty actually moves
Open the customers tab. Each named VIP shows a loyalty bar and a genre or hangout they care about. Stock that genre, keep copies rewound, and keep RentNet kiosks smashed so the regular walks into your door. Discount shelves are a loyalty tool, not a profit tool: creators measured a real bump toward 100% and a real hit to rental margin. Use a small discount bay to finish a stubborn bar, then take it down.
Handing out fliers is the other early lever. The achievements list even tracks Grassroots Marketing and Street Team. Fliers do not replace stock. A VIP who cannot find Animation will not join because you papered the pier.
Video game rentals (three consoles, no rewind) are a later loyalty booster from the mid-EA content drops. They sit next to tapes, not instead of them. Details on the video game rentals page once you have shelf space.
100% is the flag, not 99
Players stall at “almost.” The membership flag is binary. Until it flips, the Store Manager will still refuse the hustle or grey it out. After it flips, that customer’s gig unlocks — not every gig. Repo Man is a different VIP from Fight Club. Trailer Park King, Boardwalk Baron, Valedictorian, and Lawn Lord style achievements exist because the game groups VIPs by neighborhood. Chase one group at a time so you are not discounting four genres into bankruptcy.
Payday still hits. Do not hire two stockers to babysit a VIP week. One clerk on rewind plus you on the floor is enough until self-checkouts. See employees.
What to buy after the handshake
Buy hardware in this order unless your VIP is an outlier:
- Claw or Candy — on-floor, early, feeds collectibles or sugar-rushed baskets.
- Repo Man — time back. The mid-article video is a Wee Hours run of that hire. He does not smash kiosks; you still carry the bat.
- Mixing desk — only with spare tapes. Walk movie mixing before you fill a bay staff will misfile.
- Arcade / Sloshy / Ice Cream — furniture and vibe. Off the rewind highway.
- Fight Club / Bull / Pizza — basement or town toys. Fight Club wants square footage you should not buy first.
Placement popups after 0.9.32 tell you when a grid is reserved. Believe them. Remix in late August 2026 required new save files; a membership on a Legacy world will not follow you onto Remix. Convert again. Co-op is temporarily off the live branch (Steam: performance instability; use Legacy for the June build). A four-player VIP hunt is easier when it exists — one player babysits genre, one runs town. Until then, solo the bar. Co-op guide.
Neighborhoods, not a phone book
Reshoot Springs clusters regulars: trailer park, docks / Pier 67, college, grassy lots. The map is the walking tour. You do not need every membership for a healthy shop. You need the one that sells the hustle you ranked S. Local Legend (all memberships) is a completionist job next to the 99 collectibles. Do that after Friday nights stop hurting.
If loyalty will not move: the genre wall is empty or misfiled, a kiosk is up across the street, or you are on the wrong build and looking at a pre-Remix screenshot. Walk one money loop, then look at the bar again. The analog shop still has to work. Membership is a bonus flag on a shop that already rewinds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I unlock side hustles in Rewind 99?
Raise the matching VIP to 100% loyalty so they become a member, then buy that hustle from the Store Manager. See the tier list.
Do discount shelves help memberships?
Yes, they rush loyalty and cut rental margin. Use a small bay to finish 100%, then take the discount down.
Does Remix keep my members?
No. Remix needed new saves. Convert VIPs again on the new file. Co-op stays on Legacy until restored.
Which VIP should I convert first?
Whoever unlocks Claw or Candy. Fight Club and the bull wait until self-checkouts exist.
